Music

Noank Baptist is well-respected in the community for its fine music programs. Our Sunday worship includes congregational singing, choral anthems and handbell or instrumental selections.  We offer three age-graded choirs for singers: Junior, Youth Choir and Senior Choir. The Handbell Choir

plays once a month and participates in community and regional festivals throughout the year.

Choir Rehearsal Times

Junior Choir (grades 3-7)    Thursdays 6:15-7:00 pm

Youth Choir (grade 8-12)    Thursdays 7:15-8:00 pm

Senior Choir (adults)         Thursdays 8:00 pm

Adult Handbell Choir       Sundays 11:00 am

Church Organs

Our main church organ is an 18-rank, 2-manual Moller instrument. The sanctuary is considered very good acoustically and is used for concerts by a variety of groups. There is also a smaller pipe organ in the Chapel.

Special Musical Events

Of primary importance is community outreach through music.  In 1968 Noank Baptist Church was one of the originators of an ongoing annual event, the Mystic Area Ecumenical Choir Festival. Each year internationally known choral directors are invited to lead the choristers of children, youth and/or adults. Also once a year, an adult ecumenical choir is gathered at Noank to present a major choral work. Under the direction of Linda Lozis, Senior Choir Director at Noank Baptist. Past works have included Handel's Messiah, Vivaldi's Gloria, Rutter's Gloria, Duruflé's Requiem and Fauré (click to listen) just to name a few.
