2 Summer Services 8:00 and 10:00am
The 10:00am service
continues throughout the year. But special to summer is an additional 8:00am
service. Each week a leader with a different topic will guide participants in a time of song, reflection, study, prayer and
discussion. 8:00 service is an informal gathering in the parlor, so you can wear your casual clothes
(even shorts)! If you are interested in signing up to lead one of these
services (a solo act or with someone else) please refer to the sign up sheet on the table in the

VBS Staff Meeting, Tues. July 27 @ 9:00 am
Calling all staff members of the 2010 Vacation Bible School – a meeting has been scheduled for
Tuesday, July 27 @ 9:00 am in Cynthia’s office. It is very important that you make this meeting, if possible, so you can feel adequately prepared for VBS week.
If it is not possible to attend, please let Cynthia know and she will make arrangements to get you up to speed in another way. In the meantime, be on the look-out for nautical related items
for decorations. Also, if you would like to help us decorate, plan to stay after worship on
Sunday, August 8.

Overlook Farm Field Trip
Noank families are invited to take a little road trip to Heifer International’s Overlook Farm in Rutland, MA on
Wed., July 28. We will meet at the church at 8:00 am to car pool.
After our 10:00 am tour, we will picnic and relax on the farm before heading home.
A great opportunity to learn about Heifer's projects, see and pet its many animals!
Plan to join us. Let Cynthia know if you can come via the church office. There is no fee for this field trip. All you need to bring is a brown bag lunch and some enthusiasm!
Groton Public Library
On Wed. July 28 @ 7:00 pm is a screening of the film
"Blue Gold".
'Wars of the future will be fought over water, as they are over oil today,
as our Blue Gold, the source of human survival, enters the global
marketplace and political arena as a commodity to be sought out, fought
over, and conquered. Can the human race survive?
Noank Mystic Community Band
The Noank Mystic Community Band will perform “Summer Sounds” on
August 3 @ 7:00 pm at Mystic River Park, Mystic. Come and enjoy an evening of music!
Vacation Bible School: Aug 9 – 13 from 9:00 am to noon
This year we will be setting sail on a
High Seas Adventure!
Our Vacation Bible School (VBS) program is designed for children from 4 to 11
years old. Registration has begun! Join us!
This year’s theme “Groups High Seas Expedition – Exploring the Mighty Love of God”! We will be having a fun week of
learning, growing, playing and singing.

Registration forms are available on the narthex (entry) table of NBC. Please fill it out and

Co-Op Youth August Car Wash
A second of two car washes, the
Co-Op Youth Group will be washing cars at Poquonnock Bridge Baptist Church (PBBC) on
Sat., August 7 from 10am-2pm. PBBC is located two blocks past Johnson's Hardware. All funds will be set aside for the July 2012
National Gathering of American Baptist Youth (grades 9-12) slated to be held in Colorado.
Bible Study @ MRHC
The Bible Study group led by Mary Brodhead will be on hiatus during the month of August and will resume on Wednesday,
September 1 in the Richards Room.
Restore - Habitat for Humanity
"Habitat’s ReStore resale outlets sell reusable and surplus building materials to the public". If you don’t want to serve on a
Habitat building crew or committee, volunteer with the happy folks at ReStore.
Our Restore is at the Salem Country Gardens Plaza. To volunteer, please sign up for the
Foundations of Habitat session, held on the 2nd Saturday of each month. For more

Holiday Bazaar - Coming ... November 20
4 months and counting...The
Holiday Bazaar will be held on November 20. It is time to begin collecting
ideas and start working on items for the Bazaar. Now is the time to make
jams, jellies and preserves from summer fruit, as well as pickles. Also -
please save and dry flowers for our arrangements from flowers from your
gardens.
If you have any extra cucumbers, please contact Jane Templeton via NBC
church office. Jane also needs canning jars. A workshop has been planned for

Calling All Book Lovers
The library is
open and welcomes all who would like to borrow books. Sign-up sheets are available
for the books of your choice.
F.A.M.I.L.Y. Kitchen is Up and Running!
This
recently opened soup kitchen serves the Greater Groton Area. The FAMILY ((Forget
About Me, I Love You) soup kitchen will be serving
FREE wholesome, healthy meals each Monday night at: Faith Lutheran Church
625 Poquonnock Road, Groton.
Additional services will include blood pressure checks,
budgeting advice, meal planning tips and reading room for children.

Mexican Mission Slideshow
Coming Soon! See a slideshow of the mission group's experiences from Noank Baptist (Chris, Wendy, Beth, Paul, & Steve)
who traveled to Chiapas, Mexico to learn of the work of the indigenous Mayan churches.
Corner Closet Summer Hours
As a mission of NBC, the Corner Closet accepts donations, sells
those donated items and uses the proceeds to help our greater community. All workers are volunteers and greatly appreciated!
Come buy! Drop off gently loved items. Join us in our fun! We are located on the corner of Main and Pearl Street in Noank.
Our hours are Wed & Sat from 10am - noon and Fri from 1 - 4pm.
Ladies Evening Circle
The is no meeting scheduled for July/August, but join us the 2nd Tues starting September 14 at 7:00pm.
Our meeting location will now be the Richards Room at the Mystic River Congregate. Join us!

Our
Shoreline Community Association “OSCA”
mission is to be a resource for the necessary
services to make staying at home safe and uncomplicated as well as a source for social
programs to make life enjoyable for seniors 55 and older. OSCA’s goal is to create a community dedicated to helping members connect to people,
activities, and services that enable them to stay in their own homes, enjoy their community
and find answers to challenges that aging can bring.
Is OSCA reaching this goal? Well, in short…yes we are!.
